Fantasy football glossary
FAAB, superflex, PPR. Know what your league signed you up for. These definitions explain the scoring rules, formats, and draft terms that change player value.
Glossary definitions
- Fantasy football
- A game in which managers build rosters of real football players and score points from those players' on-field statistics.
- ADP
- Average draft position, the average pick number at which a player is selected across a group of fantasy drafts.
- FAAB
- Free Agent Acquisition Budget, a season-long pool managers use to bid on available players through waivers.
- PPR
- Points per reception, a scoring format that awards a fantasy point whenever a player records a catch.
- Half-PPR
- A scoring format that awards one-half of a fantasy point for each reception.
- Superflex
- A roster format with a flex spot that can usually be filled by a quarterback, running back, wide receiver, or tight end.
- Dynasty league
- A long-running league in which managers retain most or all of their roster from one season to the next.
- Keeper league
- A league in which managers carry a limited number of selected players into the next season and redraft the rest.
- Redraft league
- A league that starts each season with a new draft instead of carrying full rosters forward.
- Best ball
- A format that automatically counts the highest-scoring eligible lineup from a manager's roster after the games are played.
- IDP
- Individual Defensive Player, a format that gives fantasy roster spots and scoring to specific defensive players.
